A Brief History

After the Vietnam War ended in 1975, a number of Vietnamese Boy Scouts Leaders arrived Silicon Valley to find the new life and freedom.  Instill in them there were still the 3 Scout Promises.  In Summer 1981, a few veteran Scout Leaders formed the first three (3) Scout Units in Silicon Valley.  They were: Tráng Đoàn Hoa Lư (Post 33), Thanh Đoàn Lâm Viên (Post 216), Thiếu Đoàn Nam Hải (Troop 310).  The word Liên Đoàn was first used to  indicate the multi-unit and that born the official name of Liên Đoàn Diên Hồng of the three units above.

Liên Đoàn Diên Hồng mission is to guide, train next generation of youths following 10 Scout Laws and 3 Scout Promises carried from Vietnam by veteran Scout Leaders.  The goal is taking the youths to live with nature and believe in religious strongly. They will grow into good citizens of a humane society.     From then more units were created by veteran leaders with support from parents:   Thanh Đoàn Lạc Việt (Post 75) - 1982, Thiếu Đoàn Đinh Bộ Lĩnh (Troop 230) - 1983, Thanh Đoàn Bắc Đẩu (Post 147) - 1984, Thiếu Đoàn Lạc Long Quân (Troop 288) - 1988, Tráng Đoàn Lam Sơn (Post 33) - 1988, Thanh Đoàn Ngô Quyền (Post 231) - 1988, Thiếu Đoàn Nữ Trưng Vương (GS Troop 679) - 1992, Ấu Đoàn Phù Đổng Thiên Vương (Pack 288) - 1992, Ấu Đoàn Phù Đổng (Pack 216) - 2004

From the beginning, Lien Doan Dien Hong has gone through many up and down to get to where we are today.  With the spirit of Dien Hong Summit in 1285, LD Dien Hong has always been the place to lead the Boy Scout Movement in Silicon Valley for Vietnamese Community.   Leaders of Dien Hong have been leading every tasks in American Vietnamese Boy Scout Activities at any situations, challenges.   Its goal is not to benefit Dien Hong or a personal benefit, but all is to help growth the Vietnamese Scout Movement and keep/maintain beautiful Vietnamese cultural heritage and tradition.
