Troop 230 or Thiếu Đoàn Đinh Bộ Lĩnh is Vietnamese American Troop of Boy Scout of America (BSA) in San Jose, California. Our troop is parted of BSA's Silicon Valley and Monterey Bay Council, Coyote District. Since 1981, we are part of Liên Đoàn (multi-units) Diên Hồng. We meet at Yerba Buena High School-San Jose, at 9:45AM-12:00PM on Sunday.
We are committed towards instilling a sense of brotherhood in each Boy Scout and inspiring each individual to make a difference in the world around us. In average annually, our troop received 10-15 Cub Scouts from Pack 216. We celebrated 5-8 Life Scouts become Eagle Scouts.
Troop 230 also served a number events of council, district, Vietnamese community and participated in US National Jamboree and World Jamboree 2019, Scout O-Rama, Vietnamese Scouting Day, Vietnamese Tet Celebration, monthly community flag ceremony, etc.
(Troop 230 is named after a Vietnamese youth who was known for war strategist in tall grass fields while watching water buffalo (chăn trâu). In 968, Đinh Bộ Lĩnh or Đinh Tiên Hoàng become the first king after put down civil war of 12 clans and united Vietnam into one country. )
Troop 230 requires standard Boy Scout of America (BSA) application process and uniform including Class A and Class B.

LD Annual Renew Form (annually after first time registration)

Our troop annually registers 60-80 members. To help operate , we have a number of officers including Adult Scout Leaders (Scoutmaster, Assistant Scoutmaster) , Youth Scout Leaders (Senior Patrol Leader, Patrol Leader, Assistant Leader and other officers positions) and many Younger Scouts.
Our Youth Leadership Officers are rotated and voted every 6 months. This gives all senior scouts opportunity to learn and build leadership skills at different positions.

There are 14 category of skills a scout can work on. Each will be given a merit badge. There are workshops available for Scout to work on merit badge or participate in Summer Camp. All merit badges has no limit of time to complete, except must be before the scout turning 18 years old.
Eagle Scout must completed 21 required merit badges and at least be at Life Scout Rank.
Eagle Palm - Bronze, Silver, Gold are given to Eagle Scout who received incremental of 5, 10, 15 merit badges more than 21 required for Eagle.
During Covid-19, these social distance merit badges can be completed at home.
